The Big Dilemma: Ice versus Heat

Have you every wondered how to handle your acute injury. Do you use ice or heat? Surprisingly, I get asked that question quite a bit. I always recommend icing your acute injury intermittently for at least 72 hours. Ice will help decrease the swelling and pain associated with the your injury. I usually recommend you ice 15 minutes every 1-2 hours while you are awake.
Remember, if you have any questions, seek medical attention immediately. If you need advice for your sports injury, give us a call to set up a sports injury screening. For a $20 fee, we can assess your injury and give you the proper recommendation to help manage your injury. We can also facilitate your care through our network of local sports medicine physicians.
